This has happened to everyone at least once, yes? I know it has for me, and a few managers I’ve known. Those opening shifts weren’t too bad. Waiting outside the store for 2 hours while the manager finally realizes they’re the one that’s opening for the day and sprints into the store and runs through the opening procedures as quickly as possible.
The flip side of that is when it happens to me. Not so fun.
The FLIP flip side is the type of morning where you awaken in a blind panic thinking that you’re super late for work, call in to apologize, then realize that it’s actually your day off. There’s no going back to sleep after that adrenaline rush and the day off may as well be wasted from that point forward. It’d be better just to go to work at that point.
