This is a fun email I got from K:

“I always found it weird when new hires had something strange going on with them physically and I didn’t know them well enough to ask about them. Once, a young lady looked perfectly normal, except for a baseball-sized goiter on the size of her throat. It was so hard not to stare. I was almost thankful for the busy customer rush keeping me distracted.”

It becomes noticeable for those who have unique physical traits when a “normal” person is trying their best to not notice them. It’s something along the lines of, “I am looking directly in your eyes and nowhere else to keep me from looking at your extra nostril.” The intensity of not looking is pretty much the same as looking.

Thanks for the email!!!
