I got a great email from Howard that inspired today’s comic:
“Today, in the store there was a loud, crying child. The big difference on this one was that he was doing this in Spanish. It was almost Operatic. It was so passionate and full of deep, longing pain. At least the Spanish made it sound that way. Unlike other crying children in the store, his pain touched my soul. I was swept up into it… until he reverted to English and kept going on “I want to stay with Mama! I want to stay with mama!” Then the moment of beauty was over.”

I know that a lot of people enjoy hearing different languages because of the exotic sound and the mystery what they might be saying. As it turns out, whatever people are saying is rarely anything other than the mundane.
Thanks again for the email, Howard!
