I have had to help a few kids who have parents that lost them in one way or another. It’s sad to see a kid going through, for them, a serious panic attack, anxiety attack, terror… all sorts of emotions running through their developing mind with an acute imagination of all things horrifying that only a child can imagine.
The parents I can understand too, kids run off sometimes. I tend to gauge how the parent is behaving, if they’re worried, I’m on their side and I’m helping them find their child. If they’re mad at their child, I’m pretty angry at the parent. Kids make mistakes, they’re still developing. I try my best to reassure the kid that they’re okay and turn to the parent and tell them that next time we call the cops.

But if the kid is being a turd, then we may just see a situation like the comic above.
