From time to time we get in some oddly shaped, oddly proportioned books. A lot of those weird shapes lend themselves to kids books. Books with wheels, books shaped with a bite taken out of them, that sort of thing.
For the regular sales floor though, we get Coffee Table Books. Books about Skyscrapers that can’t be placed anywhere except the very top of the shelf, or the Panoramic Pictorials. I’ve tripped, bumped, stubbed, and whacked into these lousy books way too many times to count and they’re spread throughout the store! They can snipe your shin or forehead when you’re least suspecting it.
It’s one of the few times I’d like to take a customer suggestion on how to organize the sales floor and create a “Coffee Table Book” section. Keep them all together and avoid that spot at all costs. I still got bruises healing…
