With regular daylight times reestablished the sun goes down WAY early. We have had a collection of customers coming up to the Info Desk asking if there’s something wrong with our lights just after sundown for the past week or two. I think we’ve gotten it fixed now, but there were some evenings where we had some customers hanging out in the cafe far longer than they would normally just so they wouldn’t have to walk out into the pitch black parking lot.
It got me to thinking that the customers blaming us for the parking lot lights being out. We’re the store, the parking lot is controlled by an entirely different circuit by the city. But what if we DID have control of the lights? Would we be able to hold customers for ransom? Could we keep them from leaving until they spent a certain amount of cash?
I wouldn’t put it past a few greedy people to have thought of these things before I did…
