From what I’ve been hearing, it’s not just my store that’s getting in WAY too many copies of specific titles. The only time I’ve seen 300-plus copies fly off the shelves was with Harry Potter books. Anything besides that doesn’t require triple digit quantities. Especially when tracking the sales record. When we’ve sold 4 in the last month of a particular book, we don’t need 80 copies. The current worst offender is the Divergent series. The books from what I’ve seen were OK, and the film was at best a movie that was based off of the book. It wasn’t the cultural phenomenon that publishers and book suppliers were hoping for. Don’t even get me started on all of the study aids books. Can’t kids catch a freaking break between school years?! GEEZ, people!
