We get a lot of students calling or asking us if we sell and/or rent textbooks. We don’t rent anything at a BOOKSTORE WHERE YOU BUY THINGS, and rarely carry any dependable selection of textbooks.
I haven’t run the numbers myself but I’m guessing home office figured out that not merchandising textbooks in the retail stores is more profitable than trying to carry all sorts of random textbooks for who knows how many subjects.
I’ve known a few booksellers through my career that have not been blessed with strong ethics. Managers who sold Advanced Reader books, Head Cashiers pulling off gift card schemes, and receiving managers who marked books out of stock…
Home office always finds out. Don’t go the dishonest rout. Integrity always pays off.
No, I am not running a textbook rental scheme. I got too many bills to pay and family to support.
