Help support me in making comics here on Partreon!

Self control is a big part of customer service. A lot of the time I have to remind myself that I have to pay bills and buy food.

I know a lot of people probably fantasize about mouthing off to customers and managers, but none of us are financially dependent enough to go through with all of those imagined scenarios.

My viewpoint on working retail has changed drastically over this past, stressful weekend. I’ve been going about it the wrong way for a while and aiming to move up a very small ladder in a managerial way isn’t a feasible strategy for me or my family anymore. I’ve been working 2 dead end jobs for the last three years and have had no time for my wife or daughter, no time to write and create more comics that I’ve been wanting to make, no time to pursue publishing my works other than on the internet, and most importantly, no time to study in any way to pursue a much more rewarding career path.

I hope that within this next month I will be on a different path. I’ll still be working at The Bookstore for the time being, but making that extra money to pay off bills quicker with an extra job isn’t what I need for my sanity. From Whole Foods to Pest Control, to a different grocery store, and back to Whole Foods… Retail has worn me down to the point that I’ve missed updates and other rewards for my incredibly patient and supportive Patrons. That’s going to change soon. Without working a second job I will have the time to start all those other projects I’ve been wanting to start for a while.

The Bookstore is something I can do in my sleep so I don’t see a problem working at this place until I hit that 20 year mark to get that fancy life time discount or after going back to school I can get some more rewarding career for me.

Maybe by that 20 year mark I’ll have gathered a large enough following to warrant publishers paying attention to what I do here? Getting a book thrown together through the efforts of readers and supporters sharing my stuff is the best way to do that. If you have any spare time at all, it doesn’t take too much effort to share on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, or whatever the other myriad social media platforms are out there.

Thanks for reading.
