Story Time With John
The temptation to read a story to kids that will seriously scar or haunt them in some way is hard to fight. I think a bit of it, at least for me, is the feeling that kids these days are too sheltered and that a good, tough metaphorical slap in the face would help kids grow up. Real life doesn’t let you win all the time, real life doesn’t have happy endings all the time, and real life sometimes has a crazy serial killer go around murdering people based off of the seven deadly sins and leaves your wife’s head in a box. …Maybe not that last part… But seriously, you dang kids need to stop thinking life owes you.
