Sometimes we actually get neat stuff to play over the sound system at work. This Tina Guo stuff is pretty fun. Video game music is becoming more of a serious outlet for composers now. Michael Giacchino, Henry Gregson-Williams, even Hans Zimmer has done stuff for video games. There’s some nice stuff in there. I’m happy to see this stuff hit pop culture status. The Skyrim theme, Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, these melodies are recognizable to a much larger audience than they used to be. I’m all for more nerdiness in culture.
