Cosplay
So that last Harry Potter movie came out today. I know a lot of coworkers and friends of mine that went to the midnight release. I stayed home to draw a comic about that midnight release and a particular movie trailer that they’d be showing there.
I’m wondering if there are going to be any more movies/books out there that sparked this much enthusiasm. People dressing up as wizards. Carrying wands around. Death Eater masks. Wigs… The last movie I recall where people did that was that movie based on the Firefly show. Well, people tried to do that at the pre-screening I went to. It just came off as rather sad. Great movie though. It got me to go back and watch the show. …Anyway, the last big event for movies like this that I can remember was the Star Wars prequels. Man, remember when everyone went crazy for those? Camping out in lines just to pre-order the tickets, guys practicing lightsaber fights in line, people went to go watch certain movies just to see the latest trailer for Episode One, TV crews would film the excitement, I wound up on four or five local TV channels… Then we watched the movie…
