Many times in the past when our district or regional managers came in to visit we would be treated to many decisions that from the retail employee felt very counterintuitive. Sections were moved around, displays changed, hours given to some areas while other areas were neglected. Then there’s the type of manager-yes-man who just blindly follows what they’re told to do without adapting it to fit the individual store needs.

I got an email that described this kind of higher up/home office decision making process.
“We have a bit of a saying about them at our store. We’ve decided that they are monkeys. Monkeys throwing poo at a grid on the wall and that is how they make all of their decisions. Whenever some insane new idea or policy comes up our immediate response is simply “Monkeys.” It’s easier than trying to find the logic.”
Thanks again for that email, Jackie!
