Working in the Cafe department is like distilled customer service. It’s all been boiled down to two distinct types of customer. Normal people, and complete jerks. I don’t know why people get so angry and upset over coffee and muffins. It doesn’t take that long to make a cup of it, adding some sugar, and misspelling your name. What’s to get worked up about?
Or are people so dependent upon caffeine and sugar that they head into The Bookstore already on edge, barely containing their misplaced rage until they can get their fix?
The cafe regulars can be great, nice people. It’s these lousy-“I’ve been shopping here for years and you’ve always let me use my STARBUCKS card before!”-idiots you’ve never seen before types that can set your teeth on edge.
