I heard whispers of this a while ago, The Bookstore was looking to be purchased in one way or another, there was rumors of Riggio buying the whole thing back, all sorts of gossip.
Nothing concrete until last Friday. The Bookstore has a new owner. That’s pretty interesting. I hear that the company is moving back to being privately owned too. Maybe that means no more stupid fiscal year end payroll budget cuts?
While the details about the purchase are more about a big investment firm or similar based in New York, this is the same firm that controls ownership of Waterstone’s, a British The Bookstore. Sounds to me like we’re one big happy family now and with our combined might we can declare war on Kinokuniya and Chapters!
